The Woods Resort is an 1800 acre community bordering the Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area, off of Rt. 9 between Martinsburg and Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Well planned with a Homeowner’s Association (WHOA) which should be the envy of all planned communities, the Woods offers a wonderful lifestyle, Golf, Swimming, Hiking, Tennis, Indoor Recreation including a gym, whirlpools, saunas, The Sleepy Creek Spa, Walden Restaurant and Walnut Pub and so much more.
Personal note from Bev and Peter D’Amour: While looking for a quick weekend getaway, to escape from the demands of everyday “middle-aged life” in the city, we stumbled along the Woods Resort. Little did we realize during our weekend visit in 2000, we had found our “Paradise”, a sanctuary from the craziness of the “sandwich” generation lifestyle we had been living. Not exactly ready to completely abandon the life we had built in nearby Frederick, Maryland, we bought a little cabin with a covered deck overlooking a beautiful wooded lot and a stream and retreated there almost every weekend for two years. We found what we were looking for: Tranquility! No road noise! No street lights! No road rage! No hustle and bustle! Fresh mountain air! Wildlife and beautiful views. Last but certainly not least, two 18 hole golf courses; Mountain View and Stony Lick. About 1 hour from Frederick… Perfection and just what we were looking for!
After 2 years, we decided to take a leap of faith and in August of 2002, we moved to the Woods full time and never looked back. Our backyard overlooks the 8th green of Stony Lick Golf Course, surround by trees! Our “Paradise”!
